The Michael Boussina Inclusion Program proudly presents physician, scientist, activist and author, Dr. Michael Yanuck. He will be speaking on his new book, “The Blue Light at The Center of Creation People” on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 beginning at 7:00pm in the KOH Library and Cultural Center.
During a stay on an Indian Reservation, Dr. Michael Yanuck was caught in a flood. Unbeknownst to him, at the same time he was struggling in the river, a rash of suicides claimed the lives of several young people. Stunned upon hearing the news of the tragedy, he assisted Tribal effort to enlist native ways to heal the people; on this Reservation with the highest suicide rate in the world.

Dr. Yanuck’s book features interactive discussions between him and Tribal leaders about experiences similar for Jews and Native Americans pertaining to past persecution and historical trauma, and offers a window for healing for both ourselves and native people.
Michael Yanuck, MD, PhD is a physician-scientist whose ground breaking research at the National Institutes of Health was the basis for a FDA-approved vaccine for cancer. Following traumatic leg injury he returned to practicing medicine. Intent on caring for the less fortunate, he enlisted in the National Health Corps, worked in urban and rural health centers throughout the country, and then served native peoples with the Indian Health Service. Currently, Dr. Yanuck is leading the VA effort to assist homeless Veterans in Northern California, as well as introduce outstanding VA programs to the Indian Health Service.
